OUR PREVIOUS EVENTS

You Can Help Too

ST JOHN'S AMBULANCE - REFS VS REFS 1

Our first event saw 2 groups of referee face off at Wolverhampton Wanderers's training ground, in aid of St John's Ambulance.
We raised £1500 for them and they were very grateful for our support.

SMILE4JOEL - REFS VS REFS 2

Our second event saw 2 groups of referees face off again and renew their rivalry from the previous year. This time we came back bigger and better, with a children's football tournament, family fun day and the main event all within one busy day. We raised £2000 for Smile4Joel who put this towards the excellent work they do with bereaved families.

BEACON CENTRE FOR THE BLIND - REFS VS REFS 3

Our third refs vs refs game was a hard fought affair - however it was the red team (already winning 2-0 after the previous two years) who prevailed again to make it 3-0 in 3 years. We continued to raise money for Beacon Centre for the Blind with this event - ensuring even more money would go to people in the local community with sight loss or impairment.

TINY TIMS CHILDRENS CENTRE - REFS VS REFS 4

Our long running refs vs refs matches culminated in a game between Black Country and Coventry. This fiesty affair was competitive until the end, with Coventry coming away with the spoils at the end of the game. Over £2750 was raised to go to Tiny Tim's Childrens Centre and the good work they carry out with young people in the community.

BEACON CENTRE FOR THE BLIND - GOLF DAY 2019

We organised our first ever Golf Day at The Staffordshire Golf Club in 2019. Over 60 players participated in what was a brilliant day of putting challenges (with visual impairment), par 3 challenges and lots of (indifferent) golf.. We raised £££ for Beacon Centre for the Blind, who put the money towards new equipment to help residents with sight loss.

GOOD SHEPHERD MINISTRY - MANAGERS VS. REFS

An unusual event followed our refs vs. refs game this year - we managed to organise a team of managers to play against our team of referee ambassadors. Unfortunately, even with weary legs, the managers came out victorious in a hard fought game - despite this, the referees gave a good account of themselves on the night!

EDWARDS TRUST - NON-LEAGUE MARATHON

Two of our trustees ran a marathon around the non-league football clubs within the West Midlands, starting at the home of Wolverhampton Wanderers and finishing their marathon effort at the ground of West Bromwich Albion. This was done to commemorate the 42nd birthday of Richard Eades, who's memory this charity acts on behalf of. We raised £1800 for the Edwards Trust and the fantastic work they do.

TWF GOLF DAY 2021

Our second golf day was held at The Astbury Golf Club in Bridgnorth, again another action packed day of fantastic golf, great surroundings and camaraderie. We raised £1200 for The Whistle Foundation, to help us begin to fund our own work around equality, diversity & inclusion.

WOMBOURNE T20 DAY

We held our inaugural T20 cricket event for our cricket ambassadors in 2021. It consisted of 2 T20 games on one day with 4 teams playing across the two games, it was a fantastic atmosphere enjoyed by all (helped by the fact that TWF won both games!). This is an area of the charity we are looking to expand upon in the coming years - so keep your eyes peeled for news coming up shortly!

FOOTBALL FRIENDLIES

We have played numerous football friendlies, with our referee ambassadors comprising the majority of the teams. We have played games against Churchill Rovers, UTC Aerospace Systems & a team made up of Roofstyle Ltd employees. In all games, every participant fought their hardest and enjoyed the event.
